My Audi A4 2005 (Newer Model) would not start on Wednesday moring. Left it and after work tried again and did start, did the usual drive but following morning dead again. Took battery reading this evening and it was very poor only 5.4V . Reckon the battery is a dead duck. So then tried a jump start from fathers car but would not even turn. Hazard lights flashed and the alarm went off but no cranking from starter motor at all. Nothing at all after initial lights flashing etc. Connections were made by the book. !
Anyone got any experience of this as if I could get it to a garage could have new battery put in. For info just try removing the battery from this car, its held in by Allen keyclam in the most in accessible place. ( not meant to be removed by mormal punter ! )
Any advise of help greatfully received as being without the transport is a pain in the a??. WOULD A POWER PACK START IT FOR ME. ??
Is a dead battery going to cause all sorts of problems whenthe power is restored. ??
Just seen something on the www about possibility when alarm went off that immobilizer feature was tripped and would need to be reset.
Anyone got any idea if this can be done with the car keys. ???
Thanks for any help or advice as now desperate to get the car mobile again.

Hi mate.

Two winters ago I had the same problem - car not turning over due to a flat battery. Even going out for an extended drive didn't keep the charge. I think it was probably due to the extreme cold (-18 in the Scottish Highlands!). I bit the bullet and got a new battery from Halfords, with extra power, for about £100. I had to get my local garage to fit as yes, it's bloody awkward to get to, and the Halford fitters couldn't do it!

I had no problems with alarm/radio once the power was recconnected, and touch wood, no problems in the winter since!

Thanks for the information. I have the new battery and have managed to borrow special allen key for removing the battery so now just got to do the work.
Thanks again for your help
