Having had the car for a few days and making use of the Quattro, thought I would take a gander at the Manual.

The car is loaded with goodies, but one thing I do miss from my BMW is the "REST" button, which allowed you to use the residual heat of the heater to keep the interior warm for a few minutes. Perfect when leaving the car for 10 minutes or so.

The Manual for the A4 says -

"You can press the OFF button when the ignition is switched off to
activate the "residual heat" function. The system will then heat the
interior using the remaining heat in the engine coolant."

It doesnt imply it is an option or extra. Has anyone tried this and found it to work ?

I had exactly the same disappointment coming from a BMW to a Quattro. Seems a shame as I bet the big lump in my car (the engine not my partner) stores a lot of heat :D

Instructions in the 1st post are cut'n'paste from the manual.

I dont think anyone has confirmed that this works, perhaps a question to a "knowledgeable" dealer is required. I am really missing this function in the current cold weather, used it on the BMW and took it for granted really.

I followed the manual to the letter and it doesn’t work in my MY2010 car :(

Just looking in the manual. In small print underneath it reads "Applies to vehicles: with deluxe automatic air conditioner plus".

Mmm, how can you tell ?

I thought that was the 3 zone climate control version, but I think I must be wrong :(

I think you will find that there are further options NOT AVAILABLE in the UK, one being "Standheizung" the other being "Air conditioned seats" only available on certain interior combos.

If you get bored look at Audi.de (fight through the German by using your imagination;)).

Never seen one specced on an A4 B8 as Yet! Euro A3, TT and A6, yes!

Definetely not an option on a German A4.

Seems a shame that BMW carried this feature to all it's UK (higher spec) models and yet Audi havent :( It's a real boon and fits in with my job perfectly.

Sorry I had gone back OT. As for the mirror, why would I need one? I am practically perfect in every way!
