I want to purchase one of these cables but all the local Audi garages by me are showing Out Of Stock :(
I was going to get a USB adaptor and connect an SD Card into the adaptor and plug the whole thing into the end of the cable... Will this work?
Does anyone know where else I can purchase this cable from, like Argos/Maplin etc?
Dosent have to be a genuine Audi product...

I think the AMI connection is proprietary.
You can plug in a card reader etc but that needs to be plugged into the AMI/USB lead. You can't just connect to the AMI socket in the car without an AMI cable.

Sorry, I got all muddled with my words lol
Thats what I meant though
Do you know anywhere else I can get the lead from, like Argos/Maplin/PC World?

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but Lincoln Audi have it on ebay.

I was looking at possibly getting one of these to link to the Audi hard disk which sits in the glovebox. I'm thinking maybe a non-Audi HDD of the same specs would work (and be a lot cheaper). ?

Sorry to bring back an old thread. Just wanted to confirm if it is possible to use this lead to connec to any portable HDD for music or does it have to be the Audi HDD?
The choice of HDD is crucial. If you do a full seach on this forum you can get some guidance on power consumption levels, formatting of the HDD and number of tracks. That said I followed the guidance for my 2008 car with AMI and I still have not got it working properly (but equally have not tried again recently). I suspect that the safe option is the Audi HDD and getting a dealer to confirm it will work.
Bon chance!
