I have a well cared for (from new) 2.0 FSI, 2004 but not yet 11k miles. Recently it is showing a worrying trend on starting hot or cold. Turning key to first position, all dash lights are normal. Turning key to second, starting position, often nothing happens at all. The engine does not turn, nothing. So far it has always started (first time is becoming rare), usually between 3 to 5 goes at returning the key to "off" and re-trying, it eventually turns over, and then fires instantly and runs perfectly. Today it needed 6 goes, and it may one day refuse! Battery seems OK, and no clunk to suggest that the starter motor is jammed. Just nothing happens, until it eventually turns over and starts fine. Any ideas to diagnose as I don't trust Audi garage to fix it economically.
Also, both fog lights are often misted up inside. Many times to poor main agent who supplied car, he insisted nothing was wrong. After 2 years of this, showed him several photos. He got new fogs in, and when I collected it he had declined to fit them! Fitted an Audi "venting" mod instead. Funny that Audi had a modification kit, when there wasn't a problem.
