Hio,
Can anyone tell me if a faulty egr valve would affect cold starting ?
Took car into dealership about cold starting sluggishness etc and they fitted this and I'm not sure it's made any difference at all.
Thanks

Saw your other post where you were waiting to see if the EGR replacement helped. Guess it didn't?
I would expect the engine to strike-up exactly the same with the EGR fully open, closed, broken or healthy. Once running, however, there would probably be quite a noticeable difference for all these different scenarios.
In your case then, I would suggest the dealer replaced the EGR for a different reason. It could well have been faulty and they do block-up with oily soot which can result in straining and failing of the valve. Worst case failure (well reported on here) is ingestion of a broken valve flap into the engine. At least you will not suffer this!
I changed my own injector and the start up was different for a while afterwards. This was due to fuel draining into the cylinder overnight where the injector seats into the head (metal to metal junction). After a few days the junction soots up and seals. In my case it sounded like the engine was running on 3 for the first 3-5 seconds. I suspect it was clearing the excessive fuel from the cylinder. If the injector is not seated correctly or the seat is damaged, it would no doubt never get better.
Can't say if your extended cranking is due to the same thing.

Thanks for that.
It does seem to be running on 3 cylinders for a few seconds when it fires up, I'll leave it a week or two and see if it soots up - it hasn't done a lot of miles since the injector was replaced.
