I am about to sell my car. I bought it from Audi under approved used warranty at 29k miles 2 years ago, but within 4 months the timing chain broke (!), wrecking the engine. Audi replaced the engine under warranty.

My question is - when selling it, should I use this younger engine as a selling point, or should I not draw attention to it ? Runs like a dream, otherwise.

Thanks for your input !

apologies, and thanks. I misunderstood "general detailing"

i would certainly use it as a selling point, but obviously include the receipt for it with the mileage it was fitted at. i presume it was a brand new engine, not used or recond.

I will have the same dilema with my daughters Fiesta when the time comes to sell it. Engine overheated within a week of her getting the car. Design fault on a cooling system hose. Head and block a matched pair so the entire engine had to be replaced. Ford wriggled out of the warranty as the car was serviced late once. The supplying non franchised dealer sourced a second hand engine from a rear end write off which had covered a warrantied 500 miles.

I have the documentation and pretty much decided it is a selling point with the engine / turbo having covered 35k less miles than the rest of the car. I guess the proff of the pudding will be in the eating when the time comes.
