Thanks to Chrisman who sent me a complete rear electric park brake caliper to autopsy.
For those of you daft enough to want to look I have put pictures and text here. :D

well done martin. another very informative article. thanks for taking the time to do it. in an emergency then, when the motors wont let you take the hb off, you could remove both motors and turn it by hand. personally, i prefer cable operated handbrakes, but i suppose these electronic one will be forced upon us in everything over time.

I agree with both your posts Zollaf, but look at it another way: what if we'd always had electronic parking brakes and someone came up with the idea of a parking brake that involved a big metal handle sticking up in the middle of the car, pulling on cables with mechanical linkages.
Perhaps they'll one day simplify these things...

Nice write up there, does seem a tad overkill but I have to say I have got very used the the EPB and the Autohold on the Passat. I'd be gutted if either went wrong.

So.....
Once again we have a sub standard VW part that can't keep water out.
A casting and a Scalextric car motor, and that's an excuse to charge £500 per side.
I cannot believe what a ripoff company this is, I've a power tool that must've cost more to manufacture, and only cost £40 to buy.
