What do people wash there car with and how often?
I use a snow foam pre-wash (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIppGipTkoQ) then Dodo Juice shampoo.

I use Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner to wash, usually once a month in summer and once every 2-3 months in winter. Can't really be bothered when its cold and wet, and the car will get dirty again in a few days.
Every couple of months, I then polish with Autoglym Super Resin Polish and wax with Collinite 915, seal the wheels, dress the tyres/plastics, etc.
Oh no, every week!! that sounds a little sad. Power wash, wash with Zymol and then polish with Black fire wet ice over fire. Rims with Meguires Alloy Polish. Normally get it done in an hour.
Do you think I should see somebody! :1zhelp:

Haven't actually washed my car except for warranty work washes. Washed on 3 trips to the dealer in the last 3 months and that's it.
Do I deserve any punishment for this sacrilege?

I would not say so. Just make sure you find a good excuse for another trip to the dealer within the next 30 days :p

I've got to admit that I think the dealers washed it about as many times as me.
When I got the car I asked for them not to touch it. I got it valeted and protected and when I wash it then it gets Blackfire etc.
However they do seem to do a decent job. I just wonder if they use a concentrated traffic film remover and hence it's removed all the protection.
Therefore when they do wash it, I give it as little going over and then protect it again. Nice of them to do all the dirty bits for me :biglaugh:

What ever the local handwash place uses. I think I have washed the car three times myself since owning it, using Turtlewax Extreme.
It's too cold and with the country roads around here, plus all the motorway driving, it's dirty again within no time, which is why I can hardly see the rear number plate at the moment!.

That just doesn't make sense!
I wash mine every 2 to 4 weeks, thats every 2000 miles or so. Jetwash it to get the grit off, then foam with supermarket wash & wax like Simonize or whatever. Then brush with same stuff in a bucket of water.
Then foam again and wash the wheels and door shuts, then rinse.
I have used a jetwash since the mid 90's and have never caused paint damage. But the one time the Vx dealer washed a car for me they managed to blow a big patch of paint off the bumper

they tend to think if they hold the jet wash closer it will make there job easyer but it dont some one down my road has had the same thing on his vw but i can tell you from years in the trade vw are one of the worst for this as they do not put a good thick coat of paint on in the first place
Good news was they painted the bumper, so it had no more chips on it when I chopped it in for the A4 :D
