The car that I am buying has Dynamic Damping fitted. Felt very nice on the test drive :)

This got me thinking about the technolgy of the system,, I guess the springs are standard type springs and the Dampers have some type of variable "resistance" that takes effect depending on the mode you set. My wife has a Audi TTS with magnetic suspension, which really makes a difference on handling when put in sport mode. (BTW, Can I make my car quicker than hers ;) )

Also, I have not seen that the A4 Avant has a option for self levelling rear suspension (had it on a previous BMW touring), does the Dynamic damper option have some type rear suspension load compensation ability ??

You're correct :

The optional damper control system makes individual settings for suspension tunings possible. A lowered sports suspension forms the basis. Adjustable hydraulic dampers alter the damper characteristics individually for each wheel.

I have it .... but I don't know about the auto levelling.

I've not noticed the rear drop regardless of the load but that may be coz the suspension is quite low so there's not a massive visual different or it coud be coz the headlights do compensate.

It isn’t as clever as the system in other VAG cars that use MRRTD (at least that was what Corvettes called it when I was selling them). It is done, as far as I know, by little valves that alter the flow rates of fluid in the dampers, unlike the Magnetic system which is much cleverer.

Ps just because I know a little bit about this, doesn’t mean I am a bloke, guys :D
