Hi. I have a 1995 Audi a4 bog standard, the car was playing up in as much the central locking system was taking its time to work , I took it apart and put a replacement motor in it from an old 80 c/l system ( I did it before it works fine as long as you change the pipe fittings) anyway the battery went dead, recharged battery and about a week later put it all back on and went to start it , imobilizer light came on, took it to local garage (towed) they took it to electronic guy who said he needed a code to reset it , I contacted nearest Audi dealer who said I needed to take it to them as they do not have a code only straight from Audi via there box of tricks, now before I take it down to them ( I always feel I am about to be ripped off exposed by them and stand there with no money and still the car wont go! as I do not have any faith whatsoever with main dealers ) can anyone help I have bought a vag com lead pluged it in and read the error, Engine Start Blocked by Imobilizer, this is via the VCDS software, now I am about to pay to buy there software but will this clear the imobilizer fault, Can anyone help!. Thanks in anticipation

first post on the forum, no grammar and you've suggested all Audi dealers are out to get you.

Not the best of starts, but the garage who advised you has done so correctly, you'll need to visit an Audi dealer to get the immo unlocked and recoded.

Unless you know a decent auto locksmith who is able to do this for you instead.

Hi Esh. First I would like to apologise for my grammar, I will try harder to get it right from now on, regarding main dealers, I am not against them in any way it is just that over nearly 50 years of going to them I still get blown away by there bills, perhaps it is the choice of some of my cars over the years . Thanks for replying so quick, I will take it to the dealer and let them sort it. Thanks again.

No need to apologise audicraphandles.

This is supposed to be a forum for members with problems with there cars and hope to receive some help it is NOT for sarcastic remarks about your grammer this is a forum not a school I could understand your post OK perhaps I am ILLITERATE.

If I was you I would look for another forum that does just that HELPS NOT Criticises, and I could not agree with you more regards main dealers.

Best of luck with your car and I hope you get it sorted.

Eshrules if you want to ban or suspend me for this go ahead

Normally, I would honour your request and indeed, ban you for being so obtuse.

My remarks were not sarcastic, but constructive - it is difficult to read a wall of text, which could prevent the OP from gaining any advice.

I defy you to find any forum that does not encourage clear, concise and understandable posts.

As you're so eager to help others, perhaps you could suggest a resolve for the OP's issue?

And, FYI - *Grammar

I wasn't threatening anybody - I find it saddening that we still have keyboard warriors frequenting this forum.

I'm not one to ignore a request a second time - take care

typical prices for coding a key are 1/2 hour labour - so around £40, which is what a local locksmith would probably charge.

It might be prudent to buy a second key whilst you're there, although they're quite expensive.

Such a shame you have this attitude, reading back through your posts you appeared to need and receive help in the past.

It's never nice to ban an active user especially over something that had passed and was resolved before you added your two penneth.

Good luck in the future, if you change your mind and wish to contribute, please contact us using the link on the homepage.

Enough of the ban me, don't ban me etc, this forum is great and the mods do a very good job of running it. End of.

To the OP, are you trying to rest the immo fault code using a fully registered version of VCDS? I would have thought a (fully registered) VCDS would let you clear an immo code. A non-reg'd version won't, though.

Sorry guys, but read this entire thread with interest, was gonna walk away but, decided I needed to express my opinion on this.

Firstly, I wanna say that this is a great forum and I thoroughly enjoy my membership. There's great tech support from techs that drop by and help out, knowledgable and willing members and plenty of "craic" fun to be had too....pretty much ALL good:approve:

I agree about the "wall of post" comment by Esh and breaking it up some certainly helps, but......

Picking members up about their spelling / grammar etc isn't good. We're not all fortunate enough to be blessed either with brains, or a decent education and perhaps we should try and remember that?
I see Esh has many posts 6000+ and has served his time no doubt as have you mycarsav.

IMHO, just as a member, I think we need to try and be a little more forgiving and a little more friendly here, for everyones sake.

I admin on a site and am a mod on another 2, so I know the script and how it works. On the site I admin on we had a member, a really good and technically sound guy with 2500 posts or more. Unfortunately he corrected EVERYONE on their spelling and grammar, CONSTANTLY to the point he just wound everybody up.......After several warnings and no change I regret to say I had no option but to ban him from the site, for everyone's sake.

Esh - to pick norman vwp up on his spelling mistake in the word Grammar, really just inflames the whole situation, especially from your position as a mod!

Norman, was totally correct IMO but voiced his concerns too aggressively initially, then lost the plot by asking to be banned!

These are just my observations and some may agree and some may not, thats life.

Personally, I love this forum and drop by as often as I can. I try to post on technical issues when I can, have posted a few how to's etc etc and generally like to see what's going on here, as there are some great guys, and excellent info. I always try to be as friendly as possible and help whenever I can, trying to promote the forum and its benefits.

Sorry, rant over :beerchug:

To the OP.....Please don't write the dealer off! Too many do IMO and names such as st***ers etc come out ( which I hate ) and stories of being ripped off. I've only ever had positive experiences over a 4 year period with mine and believe you get what you give, to some degree. Call first and explain, then take it in and talk to them, they are people after all, and people buy from / deal with people!
I wish you good luck and hope you get your issues resolved soon

norman was obtuse, I dealt with his posts accordingly.

If people (as you have, Jim) take the time to air their views politely, I have all the time in the world for them. Talk to me (or anybody else on this forum) with disrespect and you can expect to be out the door yesterday.

Can I ask that if there is any more feedback to be added, it is done so via PM to me or on a specific thread in the general chat section - we've digressed somewhat from the OP's query.

The OP, from what I gather, requires his key coding to the immo. The code, to which he refers, I presume is the SKC to gain access to the immo.

Would be nice if he would enlighten us, from what I gathered, his car immobilised and needed the code clearing.

I'm guessing he'll not be returning after his question thread was mullered by ego.
