Hi gents,
has anyone ever managed to retrofit the ambient lights (also known as ‘light pack’) ? I remember an old post about the glovebox light only, but what I am looking for is the full package.
If any retrofitter is available in the Greater Manchester / Cheshire area, please feel free to pm me.
Cheers
Fab

I remember asking after I collected mine and It drew a blank. I was after the footwell lights which I think add a little something.

The extended light pack adds lighting to the vent switches aswell as the glove box and footwells. Together with the extra indiviual lights in the back and vanity mirrors.

If I remember correctly I think you needed wiring, fuses and the correct bulbs just to add the footwell lights. I looked and I couldnt even see where they went. It was to much trouble and next time Ill tick the box I think.

This was two years ago so perhaps someone knows how to do it now!

Not quite what you were looking for but here is a guide for the door warning/puddle lights and also glove box light.

Excellent guide, thanks a lot! I guess that the second link you wanted to post was actually this one: http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/audi-s4-a4-a4-cab-b8-chassis/81670-glove-box-light-retro-fit-puddle-light-information.html

The difficult bit seems to be to get the coding right, especially considering that I don't have a VAG machine and would have to rely on a professional anyway.
If anyone knows somebody in the Greater Manchester / Cheshire area who is willing to do the job, please give me a shout.
Cheers

Hi gents,

This may be pedantic but I hope it stops any confusion :

Ambient lighting and the light pack are different things.

I have the light pack but I didn't have ambient lighting....although I've since enabled it via VCDS.

Ambient lighting is basically turning on the interior footlights even when the doors are shut. You can control the intensisty via the MMI ... once enabled.

Of course you can't do the ambient lights without (retrofitting) the light pack.

Now it makes sense, thank you :-)

Guys,

Anyone got a link to a possible supplier of an interior light pack for my A4?
Have the VCDS to do any necessary trickery with the system to enable after fitting but, have failed to locate a supplier on same.

I have retro fitted interior light pack with full mmi control, will dig the part numbers out next year when I'm back at work with the vcds coding to boot for the doors etc and the hidden menu for mmi

the wiring is straight forward and each door can be wired from the control unit then just add the lights under the seats and footwell lights (might have vcds log file on this pc) and the glove box light

It took me a day all in

found some of my notes

retro fit footwell lights

Address 09 byte 16 needs adjusting

then each door needs adjusting

wiring for all the doors is the same pin 1 brown pin 2 brown/yellow

foot well nsf and osf floor wiring the same

pin 1 brown
pin 2 red/lilac

light unit footwell floor p/n 4e0 971 415
plug 4b0 971 832

So how does one find out if they have the light pack?

And can the ambient lighting be activated on a car without the full blown mmi/nav (i.e. one without sat nav)?

Simplest way is do you have a glove box light as it's not standard.

It seems you can do it on any : http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagComINLight.html

p.s. It's a nice little mod.

My car has all the lights in the footwells and glovebox etc. Did not realize they were extras I just thought they were standard on all Audis.

Open glove compartment, if light comes on you have the light pack. If you don't have Nav all the set up functions are still accessible via controls above air con panel, radio, media, car, set up etc.

Yup I do, I have some light pack, not sure which one, auto lights, etc.

I have the lights in the footwells, under the doors, the red door led, and in the glove box.

Need to get my hands on VCDS as I want to see what all this fuss is about ;)

It's not a jaw dropping mod. It simply enables the floor lighting to be on all the time. The max brightness is 50% of what you get when the door is open.

It's not amazing but it's a nice effect and is useful for when you drop something .... or rather when the kids do!
