View Full Version : Please Help mfd midline stalk

Hi all, I've just bought a 57 2,0 tdi sport estate after having my skoda octavia sport written off. One of the first things i noticed on the passat was there was no rocker switch on the right hand stalk for changing data on the midline mfd like in the skoda. Mfd is stuck on instant mpg which is bugging me. Phoned previous owner about it, he says he bought from new and didn't know it should have the facility. He also said he had cruise fitted by dealer from new so I'm wondering if they fitted wrong stalk pack. If so, will I be able to get replacements on the warranty which runs to Jan 2011. Thanks.

It wasn't standard equipment, it was an option hence you have no chance of a warranty claim!

It can be retro fitted at your expense though if you want it.

Do you mean the mfd or cruise?
I thought the midline mfd was standard.

The MFD wasn't standard on all models.

I've got the midline version, not the full screen version, just no way to switch data. Pre owner never had clocks changed so something wrong somewhere.

Does that mean your wiper switch doesn't have the button on the underside and the rocker switch at the end. Have you got the MFSW buttons to use instead.

I have no buttons or rocker switch on wiper stalk and no mfsw.
Mfd is stuck on instant mpg.

That is odd because even the base "S" model seems to have the wiper stalk with mfd controls. Perhaps the car does have the wrong stalk.

I agree the rocker switch on the wiper stalk is a standard feature on the b6 sat since the b5.5 iirc (if not earlier)

I think its Time to contact the dealer that fitted the cruise control!

Update.
Had the stalks replaced with correct ones this morning, dealer admitted stalks for mfsw were fitted by mistake when fitting cruise control.
They said they would fit the new parts labour free but wanted £60 for parts at cost. After a bit of wrangling, got it all done for free. Result.
