Why, why is there no support for Bluetooth Audio with the 3gMMi.
Thought maybe an update or something, any one know anything.
Had a hirecar other day Golf 1.6tdi. could not believe it, it had touchscreen with front and rear visual parking aid aka audi, DAB radio, usb and ipod, aux and bluetooth, but most impressive was under media and additional bluetooth audio A2DP. The touchscreen was easy and quick to use and made me think why not on my Audi, after all its lots more money.

It is a continual great disappointment.

The whole 3G thing is a great disappointment. However, at least my car now tells me - after an update that took an age to release (I'm sure that there is just one person in Audi's software engineering function) - to turn left at the correct place on roundabouts when I am following its directions.

I Have purchased the parts to adapt my 3g AMI to accept A2DP.
Brought aux AMI cable from Audi and from Amazon a AD2P reciever.
The reciever plugs into AUX and has its own rechargable battery to prevent pick up of ignition noise.

Checked my phone N86 and confirmed it will connect simultaneous to both reciever and Audi. On test it pauses music through AD2P whilst on call, then starts it again when finished.

I will update forum when fully tested. Soon will be able to listen to Spotify through the B&O.

All parts for conversion to A2DP arrived and tested. The bluetooth unit is tiny, fits onto the aux cable and does not interfere with the Audi. So now I can use Spotify from my smart phone, play music which automaticaly pauses on reciept of phone call.

So it can be done, but come on Audi, all I needed was an update to the existing bluetooth.

I'm new to this forum and found your post while searching the internet for solutions to streaming spotify through my audi AMI. I have a 2011 A4 with the AMI connection through the glove compartment. Would I be able to use the AD2P adaptor if I don't have an aux in my arm rest?

Yes , as far as the ami is concerned you need a AMI/AUX cable to plug into the AMI (available from audi £30 or internet) which you can then connect your bluetooth reciever.
Dependant on the phone though you will need to check if the phone will connect simultaneously with both Handsfree profile to audi and a2dp music streaming to bluetooth reciever. some phones like iphone have limited bluetooth support.
If your car is not equiped with handsfree, then ensure you buy a bluetooth reciever that suports handsfree as well as a2dp profiles. These types are more widely available. Also note that there is no easy way to supply power to your reciever inside glovebox. The reciever I brought in above link has internal rechargable battery.

yeah, this is also one thing that I am not happy about. Well good thing I was able to find solution to my problem. I have a very nice viseeousa BT adapter. I use the WMA3000 that I connected to my cars AMI port. It's really a cool device and play my music wirelessly without issues.
