Hey, just bought a 55 plate a3 tdi quattro s line today and its got a craddle fitted on the dash just left of the stereo with a removable craddle part for what looks like a nokia. My question is if anyone knows where you can get get one for an iphone 3gs?
Also how well this system works and if it plays music through it.
I had my ipod touch connected to my stereo through my glove box cable in my last car.

Hi Andrew,
I have an iPhone 3gs and it took me quite a while to track down the correct part. You need part number 8p0 051 435 hc. Its about £100. You can get hold of one by phoning your local audi dealer and they'll order it in for you. It also works with the iphone 3g, and 4 (but doesnt sit perfectly for the 4 due to its shape).
It works perfectly! You have to pair the two devices (iphone & cradle) via bluetooth. As soon as you get in the car and start the ignition the stereo "bongs" and the dash display & stereo says "phone/BT". I must have a microphone above the drivers seat/in the sun visor/central panel, as nobody has any problems hearing me whilst driving (even with the window down) - clarity is perfect. The cradle also charges the phone. Unfortunately it doesnt allow you to play music from your iphone. There is another way of doing this - involves using the aux-in which you may/may not have - it'll be located in the centre console - under the arm rest(if you have one).
On my cradle theres a couple of buttons - once interacts with the inbuild phone book (voice activated(which is rubbish!) and wont recall contacts from your iphone. The inbuilt phone book is completely seperate to the iphone phone book. Its much easier to use the iphones own voice activation by holding down the home button.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Sean,
I phoned up my local Audi dealer earlier and he said they have a few in stock, one of which i have reserved, so i think im going to go for it.
Although im still a little bit unsure, simply because its £105 for it and my phone connects to my A3 via bluetooth without the craddle at the moment.
Only problem being that my phone isnt getting charged and i have to pick up my iphone to make a call.
Mmm... I will have to decide.

Hi Andrew, might be worth driving down there and trying it out. My phone wouldnt connect to the car stereo until I had the adapter/cradle thingy.
If they've got some in stock, I'm sure there wont be a problem trying before you buy.
I was a little cautious about spending £100 on it, but everything that has the official audi stamp is a little pricey. It does work very well though.
