Hi to everyone.
So keeping things short, i crashed my audi s3 now what can i do with the crashed can? Im thinking in doing and engine transplant as the amk only has 84k on the clock. What choices do i have? Been told about seat, Audi, scoda and vw. Now as i was looking over prices, the golf mk4 ( 1500$ with loads of miles, which i dont care do to changing the engine and the intirior ) looks the best and as beeing told about the straight fit i stared to check about, does anyone here has any experiance in conversions? some pointers, how much should i consider to have to pay for the conversion.
Thx for every possible idear.

If you fancy a real project, then possibly a mk2 golf or something equally as lightweight/classic.
Would be good to see a tired old classic given a modern touch.

i see your point and to be fair the same came trough my mind to, thing is that i had got myself a loan for the Audi s3 and the insurance doesn't want to pay up so im kinda out of cash with a scrapped tin in Portugal, i've been told the the mk2 aint no straight fit and loads of work to make the set up right.
how much time and money would i have to consider to make the mk2 work?
i don't have many people here with this type of experience and get it done by a company already sounds very expensive. what would you say?
i like the mk4 just because of the similarity to my s3 ( stable and comfortable ), but then when i started working on cars it was on an mk2gt ;D was great the cars back then almost pure mechanic, just great

I suppose I'm just a bit biased with the whole mk2 scene as have owned two, still currently owning one.
As for the 1.8 Turbo, I know its one of the most sought after engine conversions for a mk2. As for cost I really couldn't tell you. I often see the engines sold for over £4k, then most people try to do the work themselves. But as you have the most expensive bit, the money you would save on buying a mk2 instead of a mk4 could be spent on getting an outside company to do the work for you.
I think people try to put aside around 5k for a 1.8T conversion in a mk2, and thats inclusive of the engine purchase too. But if you wanted to go for the 4wd system too, I would expect to throw another couple of grand at it too.
Hope this helps.

a friend told me that he knows a guy who has enough knowledge to make it, now he never worked on vag 1.8t but if it is a straight fit then it would cost around 300£ to 500£
realistic?
plus how straight fit is it? do you know anyone who done the same conversion? im in a lilbit of bad luck finding decent information about it online. :1zhelp:
cheers dude:biglaugh:
