I've had my B8 for over 2 years ( 60,000 miles ) recently when I started the car the key fob thingy no longer stayed in the hole. I could drive the car with the keys in my pocket !!
I had to get the lock in the ignition replaced yesterday which cost £50. I was told that I had broken it because I was pulling the key out to fast.:(
Any one else had this problem?

I had problems but once I took all the other keys off the keyring (home, office, mistress etc ) all was well.

I don't know whether its the same problem as what you have had but I had to have my ignition lock replaced under warranty at 35k after warning lights began to show up on the dashboard.....I was told by the dealer it was a very common fault on the B8....

Had mine replaced after 10k, was also told it was a common issue. Mine is starting to play up again at20k, key gets stuck in and sometimes with key removed the steering lock does not engage.

Mine is booked in on the 22/10 for a switch replacement to cure intermittant "ignition lock failures". I was also told it is a common issue! It seems to happen on cold wet mornings mainly, although I haven't see the warning message for a few days now.

The B8 doesn't think much of the UK climate then!
