Variation on door lock windows down

This morning my son unlocked his MK3 five door and the windows all ran down. I've seen this on a search and I know it happens on my daughters new Skoda, however this time the problem's a bit bigger.

The key won't return to vertical and is stuck in the lock!

I found a grommet in the edge of the door which seems to give access to the door mechanism, but can't see anyway to either get the door panel off or access anything useful through the grommet.

Any help gratefully received!

OK here's an update. I found out how to get the dorr panel off, but beneath the trin panel is another panel on which the wiring and the window motors is mounted. It seems I have to get this off to reach the lock mechanism. On the face of it it looked simple, just undo a number of hex headed screws and pull the seal away. But it still won't come free and I still can't reach the lock! :zx11:
