I wish to put out a couple of dash lights on my 2002 Mk4 V5 Golf and was wondering if this was something I could undertake myself? I have serviced the car myself and wish to cancel the service light that comes on with the audible tone every time you turn the ignition on. The second light is the emissions warning light that has been popping up intermitantly over the last 9 months or so. I have had VW Assistance check it out once when I required their help, and they checked lambda sensors etc, and said the light is prob just an error. The problem I have is that I wish to sell the car privately so dont want any warning lights up for obvious reasons.
Any ideas...?? I have Ross-Tech's VAG-COMM downloaded on my laptop, but no COMMS lead as not sure where to get one or what type I require. Is this the best route..? Can I use Vag-Comm to put these lights out?

Would really apreciate some help here...

Thanks in advance...

I've had the same problem - the service tone and message i go the garage to get rid of when it when in for it's service but I've also got the emmisions dash light on - how annoying.

I took it to the garage who read the emmision checked lamba sensor etc and said there was no faults - they replaced the sensor but it didn't make any difference.

I've seen people write on here that they just pull the bulb out or summat like that. Let me know if you get it sorted tho

Cheers

Hi Andy
I wonder if you or any body else that reads this can help me, I am trying to find out if there is an official V5 Owners club in order that I may advertise my reg plate from my now departed golf (V5 APR). Any thoughts or assistance would be appreciated.
