Well, my Clio was finally in a sorry state of affairs. Had a kackered camshaft bearing, badly worn driveshaft, clutch needed doing and half the electrics didn't work - Heated mirrors, electric mirrors, heated rear window and radio.
So decided it was time to trade it in whilst it was still worth a little something.

And got myself one of these: :D

Can you guess what it is yet?

18" alloys. Really not looking forward to cleaning these... or changing the tyres! Oh well, compromise!

mac - the detailer in me is screaming.

interior - poorboys interior dressing - smells gorgeous and gives a beautiful matt finish.

dress that engine bay too - it deserves it!

but, having said that, it's still a Skoda.

No, I'm not jealous.

Haha, thanks Esh. I think...? :D

Is the poorboys interior dressing to be used on the leather on on the plastics?

For the engine bay, I assume some WD-40 on the dark plastics, but what on the light grey stuff?

;)

poorboys is for everything interior bud, leather, plastics, the works - I used it on the A4 and the finish it gave was amazing - obviously it doesn't replace a proper leather conditioner, which I would recommend using every now and again, but for a light clean and restore it's ideal.

engine bay - good thing is about good quality products, they're so versatile it's unreal. I've just started to use FinishKare's Top Kote Tire dressing - you can use it for all black external trims, tyres and engine bays too. Obviously, if the engine bay's dusty, give it a quick degrease/clean before applying something like that.

Elite Detailer is the dedicated forum detailer sponsor, so it might be worth seeing what he suggests (ask for a cheeky discount :p) I wouldn't look to pay more than ~£8 for each product - which will last at least 12 months.

Edit - if you want a small sample of each, pm me your address and I'll send you some of each.

Thanks very much for the advice, I have PM'd you, so will decide on these products. Then if I like them I will pester Elite Detailer for some goodies, at a reduced rate of course!

Thanks very much!

Just discussing this with a mate (who drives a '53 XJR). Would seriously consider this as my next car.

Nice choice :)

I always vowed that i would never drive a Skoda (Let alone own one) but my work decided to get them as patrol vehicles and i now drive one daily and i loved it, so much that when my Bora died i bought a 2.0 TDI Sport Octavia with the external sport pack (basically vRS kit) and it is hands down the best car i have ever owned.

Yes, people do snub it and people cant get over the badge but at the end of the day, they dont have to live with it and im glad that i do...

That is exactly why I bought it.
I compared dealer prices on VW Golf GTI/Audi A3/Leon FR on exactly the same spec (2007, 35k, 1 owner etc) and I couldn't find any of them for under £11.5k at the time.

I may get a bit of a ribbing at work, being a 24yr old driving "an old fart's car", but at the end of the day, I saved myself over a grand and got myself a car bigger than the aforementioned, and more understated! :biglaugh:
You can't wipe the grin off my face!

Awesome car, proper motor... bet it's a mahoosive jump from the Clio!

Just slightly...
The power is just incredible (compared to my Clio). It's effortlessly quick though, which could easily land me in trouble if I take my eye off the speedo during a motoryway overtake...

Unlike my Clio, where you had to put your foot through the floor to get any sort of performance from it, the vRS has a nasty habit of hitting triple figures (kph of course :p) by just the most featherlight of touches on the loud pedal!

I know I've only had it a month, but I can only find one flaw in the whole car. And that is that I can see sweet FA out of the rear window. Factory fitted arking sensors may be on the 'what I want from Santa' list, as I may not hit something when reversing, but I have already been told be SWMBO, "I can't park this thing for toffee!" :1zhelp:

I'm sure once I need a set of tyres/brakes, I may think of another issue too... :o

Want to give it a good ol' polish this weekend and see how nice I can get it.

Lovely car, and personally I think the Skoda badge has class and most petrolheads recognise that I would say.
