Hi....
I purchased an ex-demo 2009 Avant in June, which I'm really happy with overall.
However, as well as the retractable luggage cover, I suspect there should be a retractable luggage net which extends up to the roof from behind the rear seats.
I have peeped through other B8 Avant windows and seen the unit in place, but is this standard on an SE?
Has the dealer lost it or something???
Any thoughts?

My car has it, although it is a MY2010 (59) S-line exec picked up in Sep2009.
The July 2009 brochure does not mention the net at all, so far as I can see, for any version of the car, nor is it a listed optional extra, either separately or as part of a pack.

I have a July 2009 Avant S-Line and mine does have the net you're talking about. Mine is fully loaded with almost every extra, so i'm not sure if was extra or how much it cost when new.

I too have it (and is a specc'ed up S-line) but I can't see they'd not put it on every avant.
Sounds like it's simply missing to me.

Thanks for the responses. :beerchug:
I have the storage pack, interior light pack, electric heated seats, cruise, phone pre low, servotronic steering etc, so it's pretty well loaded for an SE.
I'll challenge the dealer to find me one!!!
Cheers...

Marksaudi - any joy with the dealer. My S4 avant came without - was thinking of eBay for an after market...

Hi Bruboy....the dealer is avoiding me!
Maybe they've realised they've got to find me one at their expense.
Although I'm really surprised your S4 came without!!! Maybe it's more about performance than sensible storage :p
I'll chase them tomorrow.

Just re-read the original post. Yes - I've got that luggage net - I thought you meant a cargo net. Sry should have been more careful!
Definitely give the dealer hassle - I'm sure it's in the manual as a non optional item on the avant!

Picked up my used Jan 2009 S-Line Avant yesterday, this doesn't have the luggage net being described... can anyone direct me to any pics of this so I know what I'm talking about when challenging the dealer? Cheers

When you say as described .... you mean the safety net that separates the boot from the occupants?

No picture but to describe it.
It slots into a one inch gap immediately behind the rear seats at the level of the top of the seats in front of the boot compartment cover. The net pulls up and and the upper bar secures to locators above the rearmost side windows.
Does that help?
Thanks GolferPete, I'll have a look again in my car and double check before contacting the dealer.
I'll try to help..................
The safety net is a retractable netted screen that can be extended vertically from behind the rear seats and attaches near the roof. The purpose of this is to prevent luggage falling forwards from the boot into the passenger compartment when the car is fully loaded or under sudden braking. It is a separate item from the retractable luggage cover and as far as I know it comes as standard on all Avants.
The luggage net is a removable net which attaches to the luggage "hooks" on the boot floor to prevent shopping and other loose items rolling around the boot. If anyone knows if this is standard or not I'd be interested as my car didn't come with this and I would like one, I just don't want to pay for it!!!

Brilliant, thanks Legs ! The safety net is there, the removable luggage net is not. I too doubt these are standard and would like to know if they are !

It seems it's officially called the "net partition" :

On my MY2010 S-Line Avant I have exactly the same net partition as the one displayed in Scotty's last post. At first I believed it was just a sunblind, but when I bought the car the dealer showed me that it could also be removed and fitted between the rear and front seats when using the car with both the rear seats completely folded.
As far as using it as a proper safety net is concerned though, I still would not be comfortable with the idea of putting a pitbull in the boot, even if I do appreciate that such a beast would be an excellent deterrent against theft and vandalism J

I have a June 2009 registered Avant SE and mine has it. Its ideal for stopping the dog from climbing over into the back seats as well.
