Oil Temp Sensor

Hi Folks,

I own and Audi S4 (B5). The oil temp sensor light (amber coloured can) flashes up intermittently on the dash and beeps once (like it would for the fuel can for example). It's coming more more frequently now so I think the time has come to replace it or at least check the wiring. OIl level is fine and she doesn't over heat.

All I'd like to know is where the sensor is located on the engine. Is it underneath near the sump plug, front of the block....?

Was a piece of cake to change on my Corrado VR6 but appreciate the two are different animals!

I've looked on the B5 section but no one seems to reply to the oil sensor questions so please forgive me if i'm being dumb.

The combined temperature/level sender should be at the very bottom of the pan - very easy to swap!
