Hi all

Im having an issue with the airbag light on my 96 2.6 B5 - its seems to be intermittant - sometimes it doesnt come on, other times its on for a couple of minutes then off again.., its done this ever since it went into BMTS in Brisbane to have the ignition barrel replaced, but they always swore it had nothing to do with them, and they wanted to charge to look at it again.

Ive checked as much wiring as I can and all seems fine, ive got half the dash out now checking the sensor module wiring - nothing amiss there

Has anyone seen this before?

Cheers

it should log a fault code so you need it reading

intermittent fault is unusual though, normally light will stay on until problem is fixed and reset

Thanks for your reply

From I have managed to find, it would seem that way... I have checked all the connectors etc. so hopefully it was just something loose, now I just need to reset it...

I have a BMW K-Line scanner, and an OBD II -> Serial cable, but I can't get them to work, so looks like another ODB purchase for me

you'll need vag com (vcds) or a specific audi fault code reader

I had this light after a flat battery. I used vag-com to reset the codes and it never reappeared. I asasumne it was related to the flat battery.

I suspect that the person, who replaced the ignition barrel,
did not disconnect the battery prior to removing the steering
wheel and air-bag, and switch on ignition before reconnecting
the battery.

They should reset the air-bag light for no payment.......
on second thoughts...... they might screw-up something else!!!
