Hi

Got a corrupt dash clock from a 1999 a4 tdi facelift model,
cars screen display is half missing, mileage is showing a row of 9's and car wont start...
i have been trying to get one of these clocks and code it in from the car breakers but i cant get one with the same 10 digit number, also im told i have to match the last letter too...is this true??

can anyone repair/rewrite these clocks?

any help appreciated

thanks

One way around this is;

Get a matching dash/ECU/transponder keychip(s) from the
same donor car,.. same model and year as yours.

did think of that jim but could get the clocks no problem but either ecu was gone or too pricey and there was no keys for it etc

Hi
Managed to locate a clock its out of same year of car etc but the code on clock is 8D0920950 (no end letter at all) Engine code AHU -
My own one is 8D0920950E Engine Code AVG..

Anyone KNOW if this would work in mine as if i take it i cant return it

Thanks

in theory they should work if you copy softcode from old cluster and they are similiar age/both tdi clusters

i fitted an s4 cluster in my 1.8t and it works perfectly

you still need security code so you will need someone who can read it then code in key

(if you live near stoke on trent i can do it)

Did the Super Vag retrieve the 5 digit code?

Not sure if it will enter it, but VCDS is capable....

Let us know how you get on.

yes, got the code using the super vag k +can

by the way what does VCDS cost?

its the code from the new cluster you need so you'll have to borrow cable again

Hi All

I never got this sorted as couldnt get a matching clock and couldnt get a clock, ecu key set either...

A guy mentioned he could get this started for me... he wanted me to send him my car's ecu where he would remove/turn off the immobiliser ( i thought the immobilser was in the dashclock) and return it to me... he said that the car would now start and i wouldnt even have to match the dashclock code as any similar one would now fit...

What you think ???

thanks

I'm a bit doubtful that he could bypass the immobiliser permanently,

its liable to kick-in again at random, but he might be a whizzkid and

discovered the secrets of the universe.

I had to replace the clocks of a 110 tdi with the clocks of a 90 tdi, the

codes were completely different, the original was magneti-marelli

and the replacement was Bosch, but the MPH limit was the same,

the needles were the same colour(white) and of course they were

both tdi.

They worked perfectly.

Jim, they say the immobiliser is in the clock and some say the ecu so which is correct?

anyway...
what year was your Audi A4 TDI, Mines a 110bhp with Magneti Marelli clock but im told the dashclock code must match exactly but clearly in your case they were completely different but was the cars the same year with the same engine codes??

thanks

The immobiliser is in the instrument cluster.

The clocks were roughly the same age, late 90's but

engine codes were different, the faulty 110 was AFN

the replacement 90 was AHU.

jim so there is no immobiliser in the ecu then...

was yours the facelift model 99 on with fogs in bumper as these may need to match..older ones may be easier to do

thanks

Cant remember exactly what year, it was immo3, same as yours. So get

face-lifted tdi clocks, with the same maximum MPH.

Fogs or no fogs, it wont matter, the fog warning-light is in the dash, even

in cars that have never seen a fog-light, its just not active.

Get someone, who knows what their doing, to code it in.

Jim
