Hi everyone

I've got a 2003 a4 tdi 130 with the awx engine code (5 speed).
My EGR valve is weeping oil from the two little vent holes on the side of the 'flying saucer' piece, it's not a major problem but i've managed to got a cheap virtually new one to hopefully replace it.

The old one has part number: 038 131 501AA printed on the top
The new one has part number: 038 131 501AL on top.

They look the same to me, can anyone tell me if they are interchangeable?

I was thinking perhaps VAG had updated the newer parts and given it a different part number.

OR is this EGR valve only suitable for the 6 speed AVF engine?

Would there be any problems if i used this new EGR with a slightly different part number?

Cheers

hi mate im not 100% sure if the different last letter will make any difference or not, if it was me i call my local dealer and give them the 2 part numbers and ask if they are interchangable mate

It think the letters at the end of the part code go up with each revision of the part, in general the number is the main thing that must match with your original part. The revisions are usually sime changes to a moulding or manufactuing method.

A dealer would be able to confirm.
