5 speed to 6 speed

Hi all, one of my customers has an 1.9pd A4 with a 5 speed gearbox which is faulty, does anyone know if the 6 speed will fit and if so what parts are needed fo rthe conversion. Cheers

hi mate iirc the gear linkage is direct acting so that shouldnt be a problem, i would have thought the clutch will need to be changed due to the input shaft may be different, as for the driveshafts they are the same i think, id also get the mounts for the 6 speed because they could be different, if you do get the job post up a how 2 guide maybe of help to others with gearbox issues

if the boxes are the same as on the A6 then top ratio is the same, so motorway cruising will be unaffected. Some say that changing gear more often is more tiring, albeit you have slightly better acceleration. I have also heard the [6] isn't so reliable as the 5 speed and and shift isn't so nice. I have a 6 speed quattro but have only done 17 mile in it so can't really pass comment. Quattro may also be a different box, i'm not sure.
