Just seeing if anyone has any idea with this,a kid at work has one and its using amazing amounts of petrol,he has tried the lambda's etc but still the same after plugging it in the fault code its bringing up is 00519 map sensor faults or also intake manifold pressure listed on same code has anyone any ideas on this as he is stuck and losing faith,i know my mate had a mk2 gti which had the same problems with using too much fuel but that was the common temp sensors on that does anyone know if this maybe the same of where to start looking for faults for that fault code?

Perhaps it needs a new MAP sensor?

Lambda is emmision control, MAP will be fuel intake control

MAP = Manifold (Intake) Absolute Pressure IIRC, ie. air intake sensor. So if its gone open circuit, i can see this making it run rich. Experienced this first hand.

Might be worth spraying the map sensor connections with wd40, cleaning letting it dry and reconnecting. If the fault is still present, its either the wiring or the sensor. But you can test the wiring with a continuity check if you know what youre doing

Is there any parts you can replace the map sensor and where is it ? a he has been told its a valve type part thats in the ecu, sorry to be dumb mk4 golfs, audi a3's etc i know my stuff but on these no ideas

Well i can only tell you from what I know about my 1.6 (AEE) that the map sensor is located on the intake manifold - under the throttle body (which is connected to air filter housing) - 2 screws and a clip style connector (with wires of course), very easy to remove and replace.

General Order Of Engine Intake

Air Filter Housing -> Throttle Body -> Intake manifold (MAP Sensor will be on the air tubing going into the main block of the engine)

To add some clarity, the exhaust manifold is where the 2 or more pipes join to the exhaust. You have a similar part for air intake. Hope this helps!

A teeny tiny hint towards what engine it is would help too.
