I've had my car for about six weeks and took it in for its MOT yesterday. Its failed on the front brakes binding, the garage said that the front brakes are permanently braking. The mechanic says that he has seen it before on one wheel but not both of them, he has suggested changing both the calipers first but he says this may not sort the problem out. Has anyone had this problem before with the car? Its only had new front discs and pad about six months ago.

Thanks

has the car stood on a forecourt for a while? here is what id do, first id remove the caliper and see if the pads are free in the carrier, if they are i would then try to push the piston back, or pump it out by pressing the pedal, if that still isnt right id release the caliper bleed nipple and try to push the piston back if it goes back ok then it means your brake hoses have colasped (common) if the piston still wont push back then its the caliper thats siezed. sounds like loads of work but it only takes about 15mins each side to find out, hope this helps bud
