Hi,
From the performance point of view, the major problem with all Audis is the lack of "handling repertoire"....they only ever understeer. For the press-on driver, this is a turn-off.
By putting narrower tyres on the front, you'll make this worse, so my advice would be to make sure that the tyre width is the same all round, or wider on the front if you're stuck with differemnt sizes.
Obviously, you will need to check clearances before you get out the credit card...

Ive got 225's on the front and 245's on the rear, no problems what so ever.

Are all 2.7T's quattros? If so I thought all the tyres should be the same make, type, size, tread pattern?

Darthweasel,
I would have thought that so long as the rolling radius was roughly the same for all four tyres, the quattro system should take care of everything else.
That's not to say you could put dragster slicks on one end and bicycle tyres on the other....that's probably asking too much.....

Yeah, you may well be right. Personally I'd stick with what it says in the handbook (apart from the bit about going to Audi for new tyres).
