I took an alloy wheel to a refurbishing place to get a 'flat spot' sorted on the inner rim, but it's come back still not true, more like lots of minor dings rather than one big one. The boss at my local ATS depot said that it's impossible to true them up perfectly once dinged. Is that true? I don't want to try somewhere else and throw good money after bad..
As I'm about to go on a very long motorway trip I'm not happy about using the wheel, however, I hadn't noticed any vibration before the flat spot was found (when a new tyre was put on), and it was quite a ding.

yes, thay can be fixed. I had 2 badly dented due to pothole. Both national tyre and audi dealership recommended the same repair shop. But unfortunatley, the wheels were too badly buckled.

Ditto , they can be sorted.
I badly dented both fronts within about 3 days of each other and my local budget and used tyre specialist just beat them with a large rubber mallet, he also had to apply a tougher than usual sealant in order to inflate them ,but once balanced and fitted ,all good.
