Hi

Is this right the spark plugs are covered by oil?

Therefore I need to drain the oil then do the spark plugs??

All seems weird to me

Thanks

You MUST clean the oil out first or it will go into the engine. Also you must clean the plug threads of oil before putting the new plugs in as oil on plug threads can turn to carbon and make the plugs stick and rip the threads out. I use a Pella pump to get most of the oil out then brake cleaner and an air line. I also use brake cleaner with the plugs out to clean the threads BUT you must get all of this out before starting the engine. I use compressed air and I turn the engine over on the starter. Do not crank the engine over with the coil packs still connected to the harness as this can damage them. Also, cranking it over with the coil packs off will store fault codes. Really you should remove the cam cover and replace the gasket to stop the plug bores filling with oil again.
