Not long after I received my car the black casing around the boot support arm broke. One of the clips snapped off after a few open and shuts and its rubbed ever since.

I shut the boot earlier today and it bounced up and split my chin. The plastic casing caught the carpet so its obviously been making its way loose. I had to pull the flap down where the amp is to push the black surround casing together as it went down. It just wont shut so I ripped it off in anger breaking all the clips in revenge for hitting me on the chin.:zx11:

Do you think Ill be able to buy a new one?

I'm sure you could buy a new one but the clips seem to be very fragile, mine have broken too. I used a couple of cable ties to fix it.

Mine too snapped off. I only notcied it when it had completely disappeared! I found it down by the amp! Haven't replaced it yet, and was going to do so when it whent for a service.

Interested to know what the price would be - extortionate no doubt!

The black plastic surrounding the rhs boot hinge on my new 2010 A4 TDi 143 SE Executive lasted about 4 weeks before completely disintegrating and falling into the well into which the hinge goes. Replaced under warranty. Dealer said that a lot of them fall apart very quickly. Presumably an example of legendary Audi design and build quality.

MIne were replaced under warranty after 18 months but the clips have just gone again on one. Black insulating tape around the arm and over the clips seems the most practical solution!

Yes indeed, happened to me with my first B8 2008 143. I removed and left it to one side assuming I had caused the break. My new Sline 2010 I have noticed a design change, presumably due to the high breakage of these parts. I would enquire with the dealer and state that it appears many more have broken, perhaps they may do something as a good will gesture as it appears a common fault.

S-Line, Lava, Alcantara and black inlays

So ... dark paint, dark upholstery, dark headlining from being S-Line *AND* dark inlays ... doesn't that make it a bit gloomy in there? :biglaugh:

The shiny chrome trim around the vent etc on the driver's side reflects in the door mirror, annoying. Wouldn't have that problem if they were dark!

Sounded a bit worrying at time of order but the silver stiching, silver surround of the dark inlays completes, for me, what is a classy look, yes dark, but it looks just great and I am 100% pleased. :beerchug:

Two things, this is Black on Black albeit no Silver Stitching, I went for black stitching and I popped into Audi to ask for a new boot part. I was expecting to have to sit down after they told me the price, but "ah, another one" he said "thats £3.28 + VAT" So ive got a new one coming today after ordering. I might buy a load and stick them on Ebay! Shouldnt have gone in the dealer, really wanted to get rid of my car after seeing what they had in the showroom

Used RS6 that looked brand new

You can see that the Black Inlays actually have a silver edge to them

Thanks, I hadn't seen a car in the flesh with the piano black inlays, but I think I'll be happy with the aluminium ones, and the silver stitching.

New boot part arrived today. It was supplied with one broken hinge which has fallen off already. Still at least its held on with 3 hinges now in the boot. Cheap parts
