first real chance ive had to have a play witht he car, 2.7 tdi s-line and ive just noticed that the front cup holder does not light up ? it did in my prevoius a4 ( b6 ) tdi sport 03 plate .
just checked a few other thing's and found that the rear ashtray has no night light, previous car did and the light switch for the rear roof light's has no bulb holder what so ever.
has audi decided to cut corner's here, as im quits supprised by it all.
any way to add the bulb holder's ect?.

The fully lit buttons came with the 'illumination' pack. I have seen a how to on the web for lighting up the cup holder symbol but can't recall the link.
Rear lights is a swapover of the whole unit to the map reading type. I was lucky to get on eBay and in black to match my headliner.
Don't forget the ambient led too, this is a simple plug n play module that clips into the front interior light unit and you drill out the blanking plates, also available on ebay

That certainly looks like the one I have- a quick google shows part numbers 8E are from the B6- essentially the same interior as the B7 so should fit.

I haven't done the rear ambient LED mod but if it is the same as the front unit is pretty straight forward.
- Drill out the blanking plates inside the plastic cover
- Clip in the LED module

Keep us posted regards the illuminated cup holder- this is the only button symbol not lit up on the dashboard at the moment in my car, and I would be interested in doing this if easy enough.
Cheers

apparently if you havent already got the illuminated cup holder, you have to get one from audi ( breaker's e-bay ect ) scarce.
there will be a led holder, on back of it which audi do not list a part number for so you have to buy the complete cup holder ect.
then it's just a question of wireing it in to the illumination circuit .
will let you no either way .
I have on of these as my rear interior light.

Today I got this out of a b6 saloon. It's an exact colour match.

Although the size, shape and colour all match, the electrical connection is a 6 pin compared to my 3 pin.
How very frustrating.

i cant remember what pin mine was but it plug'd in and work'd . what colour is that ben, i had to replace my front piece aswell, as i couldnt get the back light's ( b6 ) in the same colour as the front light's so had to buy both in platuinum when the colour i wanted was silver .
I would call it cream. There was another in the scrap yard, darker. A dark grey/blue shade.

The Interior bulbs will more than likely be 501 type, working in halfords as a youth these seemed to be in every cars interior, if someone can confirm that.. all you need to serch for is some 501 LED type, you can pick up some nice x4 cluster types in various shades of white.

They are the mini capped bulbs, not 501's iirc, or at least the front map lights are, i think the rears are the same. the main ones in the front are festoon bulbs, 40mm long ones.
