The bonnet is jammed!!

I am currently using a company car a 1.9 TDI Golf except I have a bit of a problem... firstly the engine needs oil but the bonnet does not want to open i have tried everything passers by yesterday couldnt help either. I have open the bonnet by pulling the lever on the drivers side it opens but the button under the hood of the bonnet wont give at all it seems to be jammed. Does anybody have any idea how to solve this problem before I have to take the car to a garage?

hate to be so blunt... but you are PULLING the lever under the bonnet arent you, not trying to LIFT. once you have pulled the bonnet lever in the cabin, you then go to the front of the car,a black plastic pull switch with a red arrow will be sticking out slightly, pull that and lift the bonnet?

cheers for the tip but i know how to open the bonnet you pull the lever towards you...however i have read the manual and there is not red pully lever which pops out the front only a black bit of plastic that you push up that doesnt pop out only the bonnet rises... Do all all golfs have this red bit of plastic that pulls out once you have pulled the lever towards you? because it doesnt happen to me! i am driving a 1.9tdi golf that makes me come to the conclusion that the plastic thats pops out from the grill under the bonnet is not coming out or is simply not there? What do you think? thanks alot though for the help.

the little black of plastic is the tip of the catch, you have to lift the bonnet slightly to gain access to the full catch if you get me? try lifting the bonnet as far as it will go (a few mm) once you've released it from the cabin and i bet youll see the full catch with the red arrow on.

if you dont, any chance of a picture so we can see what you're seeing~?

wahey it worked but it seems the plastic is knackered and doesnt come out properly...! thanks very much for your help now the car can have a nice oil drink!
