2003 a3 boot not opening

I have owned the car for just over a month, and had no problems with the boot, but now it will not open except by the key.

The keyfob button does nothing and opening the car by the key and then opening it by hand does nothing.

Is there a seperate motor for the boot mechanism ?

Or could the problem be a wire, etc ?
