View Full Version : Oh no, not this question again - Key coding
Hi all
I have searched and think you'll all tell me it's a dealer jobbie - But is there anyone out there in the Lincolnshire area that can re-programm the transponder end of an Audi 3 button flip key - I got a key from ebay, the frequency is the same along with the 4DO etc number all the way down to the last letter. I set it up so it'll open the doors etc but I cant do anymore cos I dont have the gadgets :aargh4:
Is it indeed a dealership job and if so what will they demand for the pleasure :D
Thanks
Paul

You can code the remote with VAG-COM/VCDS but not the immobiliser transponder unless you have the PIN code, which has to be retrieved with more specialist software.

I've just finished looking through all my documentation (not much unfortunately) and I cannot find no blasted code :aargh4: Looks like it's a trip to the local dealer - Might get the missus to go with a low top on :D (you never know)

Why did you think it would be there? It never is.

Some auto locksmith I mailed said it might be there - Unless I misunderstood (though it was a bit strange if it was there).
I told him it wasnt there and he says (the same as you did) that he can extract the code with year, vin, engine no and fuel type.
He's looking into it now, unless someone here have the electronics to do it :o
Failing that, dealer trip with the missis :biglaugh:

The code can be extracted from the car with specialist software such as VAG TACHO or by the dealer by there systems communicating with a server in Germany.

Just phoned Lincoln Audi (JCT 600) and they said they'll re-code for £25 - not bad I thought (fingers crossed it will re-code) - I'll update once I've been in a week or so.
