I'm trying to remove the Tie rod's from my 1995, 2.6 coupe, everything is loose apart from seperating the inner ends from the mounting rack, for the life of me i can't figure out how to remove the bolts...there doesn't seem to be enough room between rack & the steering gaiter to get them out.
Advice would be much appreciated please ?

cheers,

I battled with this one too, it seems to be designed such that it can't come apart by accident, so no bad thing...
As well as the tie bar nuts themselves, you also have to remove the two vertical through bolts which hold the carrier bracket to the end of the rack. Again the nuts are actually locking nuts, because the holes though the rack are also threaded.
I found it worth taking the time to position the rack for best access, on the 20v, I went in from above with long socket extension bars alongside the battery tray, then move rack as necessary to see/feel what you can from below

Thanks scotty33,

Have tried shifting those two bolts, got the nuts off no problem, i suspected as much about the rack having threads, but getting at them from underneath is a nightmare.....I'm sure someone's used threadlock on them cos they are a bugger to shift.
I'll give it another go tomorrow, need to eat my porridge in the morning ;)
