I was in the back of the car yesterday day cleaning the seats and had a bit of poke about.
I dont sit in the back of my cars very much only when i'm cleaning that area.

I pulled the arm rest down and noticed the little flap thing on the front.
Opend it up expecting cup holders or a tray to come out but nothing came out.
its just a very thin slot. I think you could just about get a betamax video in there.
I dont think its for storage and the under side is soft, so any thing you put in there could deform the leather and the arm rest it self.

so what is this little hole for?
Was there any other arm rests used that was a bit more usefull?

the holes for a first aid kit
you have an avant? saloons have a much better one which the lid opens up completly, good luck finding a leather one though

think its just countries that need to carry kits by law that got them?

the saloon one looks similiar to that photo, but that one looks like a passat part?

would guess the saloon/avant parts are an easy swap
