S4 Transmission howl

Im getting a low cyclic howl from my S4s manual transmission only when its going up hill (ie under load) or i put it in to a higher gear than usual. Im thinking gearbox shaft barrings or clutch. Any experiences here?

could be lack of grease in driveshaft cv joint?

humm could be an inner c.v. plus there is a bit of a knock in fast cornering. outers are new.

one inner joint defiantly knakerd way too much play. Any one know if the S4 joints are any different from the normal manual quattros?
