Help ive got problems :p And my hinge has broken on my glove box!
Ive got a new glove box lid, as the old one is no good, as the hinges are part of the lid:zx11:.
Ive unbolted the glove box so i can work on the lid. But i can not get these pins out? :1zhelp:They seam to be in for good? Any ideas on how to get these pins out so i can put my wifes car back together.
I hope someone on here can help with this headack. :aargh4:

Can't we guess? That would be more fun!

I'd suggest the big hammer and small chisel would be the best way to remove the hinge pins.

Although I suspect that the other part of the hinge bolts or clips to the glovebox somehow.

I'm guessing this is on either a B6 or B7 A4?

If so, you can punch the left-hand pin out using a hammer and suitably sized nail (there is an access hole). If this doesn't work, try the same method as for the right-hand pin below

With the right-hand side, the best way is to squirt a small amount of penetrating fluid in, stand the glovebox on its left hand end, grab the pin by its groove with a pair of sidecutters, squeeze nice and tight and then thwack the side-cutters with a hammer.

Don't be too concerned about hitting it hard, it takes a good whack or two to work it loose.

Good luck!

nah, im guessing this newbie has read and understood the rules, which makes this a non vag vehicle, so i am guessing its french, probably a citroen xantia. in which case forget it, they are not meant to come out, so do the right thing and scrap it.

In that case, I revise my tool selection to include a blowtorch. And a crowbar. And a scrapyard crusher.

I'm guessing the geezer's too busy being famous to bother replying to his own thread.

Shame that, I almost actually cared about his predicament.

Thats a point, would anyone be intrested in buying a glove box lid with a broken hinge? I did see that someone on here was asking around as they can fix them??
