Well I've had the iPod adaptor in the garage for too long and finally decided to fit it...well after 3 hours of fiddling with the Damn thing is finally installed.
Coded the radio to have a CD player and I get an error about the CD changer and no options to play the iPod
I have a 4th gen Ipod Nano, which maybe the problem...but i just thought it didnt charge them...well I'm lost please help. PS the ipod does go into adaptor mode with a VW symbol.:aargh4:

Thanks for that the reply. I was going to use mine with my iphone too. It might be a cable issue. I not sure really. But good to know that it will work eventually:D
As for the install its not too bad just routing the wire as I had no MutliCD player before ;)

I got the cable off ebay, I bought the one i assumed would run the CD player hence the ipod adaptor. So i have cable that fits just need to rearrange the pins hopefully. Your help is fully appreciated.:D
Which part of Devon are you in? I do make a daily commute to Plymouth.

good news mate the ipod adaptors are NOT coded, mine plugs in and works on rachels car, but i do have a problem with mine and that is i dont always get sound , its a connection in the adaptor fault im hoping some brake clean, air line at work will sort this, what im getting at is when i plugged my ipod nano into it it said cd error and went to radio, gave it a wiggle and got it working with abit of feedback thro the speakers so fingers crossed an air line will fix it, if you want mate you could try rachels adaptor in your car to check your wire is working properly, who knows it could be the dock has got loads of dust init

Well the people who I bought the cable off said its not compatible, Im not convinced as it supposed to directly replace the CD Player. I need the pin outs as I dont want to remove my console or radio again, if i can avoid it. Just pull the ipod adaptor out and rearrange the connector wires. The power ones are definitely correct as the ipod recognises it, so does ,y ihone (tight fit)
I will try some electrical cleaner on it tomorrow and see what happens ;)

Right as I though when i bought the cable...It IS the right one. I went into the car and removed the radio to see what was connected where. wrote it all down to work out what is wrongand plugged it back together. BINGO!! iPod work now!!
So the answer is the cable that connects the CD player to the radio works with this adaptor.
Phil you've been a star and so helpful thanks.I may need your help yet with something else ;)
*** If A8 Tech Reads this...yes I failed to plug a cable in properly again ****
