Hi,
Firstly I'm new to this forum so hello!
I bought a 2003 Audi A3 1.9TDi SE 100 for my wife recently & it only has a cassette player. It has the Chorus head unit which is CD changer capable however I am stuck as to whether to buy a CD changer for the boot or the glovebox. Can anyone tell me which one is the correct fitment for this car?
I don't want to fit a generic CD head unit as I had real problems with radio reception when I did this in a Seat Leon I used to own due to the aerial amp issue & only had limited success with the in-line aerial amps you can get.
Any help gladly recieved. Also if anyone has any links to where I can get the CD changer that would be great.
Thanks in advance.
James

I have the same thing with the A3 SE I just bought for my wife. Mine has the Concert head unit, and there is a space and cable in the boot.
Looking on ebay, there doesn't seem to be much shortage of the boot mount ones, so as long as you have the cable there, that's the one to go for. I think it's a round 13 pin cable.
I'm probably going to borrow the changer from my A6 to test it all works before getting one from the scrappy or ebay.

Have you thought about usb/mp3? that will fit in the glove compartment. You will have more music on the go and can use sd card as well. Look in connects 2 which will come out cheaper. If you are into Apple you can get ipod connectors as well

I've looked in the boot but there is no cable there. I'm guessing it would be located on the left as that was where it was in a Polo I used to own. I'm guessing one was never fitted in the first place.
That leaves me options I suppose. Is it best to get a factory one off eBay, get the connecting cable & fit that or go for an aftermarket option such as the one ginvi has suggested.
Ginvi - sorry I'm not sure what you are refering to. Are you suggetsing an MP3 player in the glovebox working off USB rather than CD? That may be OK but I suspect my wife would prefer the ease of just being able to use a CD in the car.
Essentially I'm after the cheapest & easiest way of getting a CD player into the car with the original HU still in there. All suggestions welcome!
By the way thanks both for your replies so far.
