Hi,

I am loking at buying an 2003 A3 2.0 FSI and the car has had a replacement engine fitted by audi due to a snapped cam belt, I have just called to confirm this with audi and they have said that a "base engine" was fitted but have said i will need to call back to speak with parts to confirm what the main part was, part number 06F100031X, does anyone know if this is a full engine off hand? The repair bill was in excess of £6000 so I imagine it would be for this money??

Also do you see a problem with buying a car thats had a replacement engine?

Any problems with the 2.0 FSI that i should keep an eye out for?

Apparently the engine management light is on and has been diagnosed with a faulty EGR valve and have had a cost of £300+ for audi to supply and fit, as they say it also needs coding in? Anything else which is common on these?

Sorry my response is late and I hope your A3 is ok, but my 2.0 fsi sport 2003 is a real pain. It has cost me a fortune in the last year having many problems with the engine management, Fuel delivery system and the Exhaust manifold and down pipes, all really expensive parts and it's still not sorted.
As i need an EGR valve as well as the oil cooler unit due to excess oil leaking down the front of the engine above the oil filler.

Hope your is better than mine, it's my 5 Audi and the worst so far. I might be going back to BMW when I can get it fixed enough to sell it with a clear conscience.

Good Luck!:aargh4:
