Yes but you need the SKC for the new cluster. If it hasn't been supplied then you'll need to retrieve it.

you need to copy and save the info from your old cluster, then when the new one is in, load the info from the original cluster into you new one.

Here is a link (http://furmanka.blogspot.com/2008/02/mk5-mfd-plus-hi-line-cluster.html)

golf mk5 but same idea

Your new cluster will be encrypted, the old cluster will not be. Hence why the tool you're using can't retrieve the SKC, but there is one in there.

Have you still got the old cluster?

If its just a straight swap say midline to highline etc
That link i gave you should work, i know plenty of people on another forum and have used it and sorted it

Hopefully a more knowledgeable member can help, or it a trip to the dealers

Yes have still got the old cluster.i too thought the vag commander would work but it seens like its not reading the immo data proplery. going to look for an update before sending to dealers.rather pay for an update then send it to them..

Mr Shark is polite enough not to tout himself on here, so I will

He does it for a living, take the hint and ask him how much he charges !!!

The copied/cloned version of VAG Commander will NOT work on a cluster newer than 09/2006 (hence why sjolliff's step by step guide is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard) and so you cannot just copy the immobiliser data into the new cluster.

We should be able to retrieve the SKC but I wouldn't know without looking at it. The safest and guaranteed way to get it done would be to take it to Audi.

Its not MY guide, just a website.

The guide has worked for many people,
I was just trying to help

And seeing as his car is 2005, i thought it might of worked.

I have a similar problem with a MK5 Golf, have retreived all the info from my original cluster, purchased a cluster new "remanufactured siemens VDO" all boxed up in VW box with the sticker still over the connectors etc, plugged it into the car it all lights up, reports doors open, temp etc, went in to do the immo coding and it will not give me the login code, it reports "Security Access Code Not Found: Reset Instrument Cluster"

The label on the box does have a load of number on it and one is a seven digit code on it, it has a date and time, it has a customer number (i assume WSC) but i can not see a importer code and the other problem is the descriptions on the lables are in german.

Anyone got any ideas or anyone know anyone in hertfordshire that can do the immo part for me?

I have called VW and asked if they would code the cluster into the car and they refused, we can't guarentee it will work. I said how about you try, I pay you for your time, forget any guarentee and if it doesn't work, you can just plug the old clusters back in? No they said.

Thanks for your help VW, you had a totaly different attitude to me when I parked up in my Mercedes ML 350, asking questions prior to buying my used Golf for a cheap run around, "Sir, let me kiss your feet", when I call up wanting help with my VW now i'm a customer, the answer is NO??? perhaps if i turn up in the Merc, with the clocks chat with the service manager and comment on how nice the Touareg looks, they will want to help me.

Rant Over!
