I have an 09 Passat Highline and just wondered if its easy to change to climate control. ie is it just a matter of taking out the Climatic panel of the trim and putting a new one in with Climate control?

Not sure with this one, but on the dash, there should be a large vent panel with a raised hump in the middle of it, if yours hasn't got the hump I would say no, as iirc this is the cc sensor.

Not possible as I've also asked this question before. It's also to do with the way the dials interact with the climate/air con unit and would require a whole dash removal and a lot more besides...

It IS possible, its isnt cheap though and requires a lot of new parts and expense.

It would be cheaper to buy one with it fitted.

I doubt that somehow, the OP has an 09 highline worth 11/12k ish?

You could the job for less than 12k for certain.

It has been done a few times, helps if you have access to a written off car to plunder all the parts from. Not easy, cheap nor practical but the fact remains that it is possible.

Nothings never impossible. Just depends on how deep your pockets are really.
As said it would be more economical to just buy one with it already, like it is in most cases to do with anything lol

Guess thats a unanamous..............................No then!!!!!!!

The Climatic is very good and maintains the temp OK. Its just it doesnt vary the fan speed like full climta control!

Didnt buy it new due to huge depreciation so could not add any options!!

Got a good deal on it for a 12 month old car when I bought it. Just need to get me one of these chinese head units to finish it off when I have worked out the best deal. There seems to be so many slightly different models lately!! But hey, thats another thread:D

Thanks for the input.

I've found the Climatic does a decent job, plus it is better than manual air con as at least it maintains the temperature, and the proof is that the default temp setting can produce very cold blasts when the car is warm, and very warm blasts when the car is cold...

edit: plus less to go wrong!
