I had my head under the bonnet the other day when I noticed something odd with the drive belt on the engine.

It doesn't look right to me but how much of a problem is this likely to be? The car has only just been serviced so it should have been picked up then. I'm at the dealer tomorrow so I'll take it up with them then.

That is how they are made.

Possible I suppose but I've never seen a feature like that before on any other belt. There is also a score just where the cords are sticking out. Still seems a bit odd to me.

It is the stitching at the join point of the belt, it appears on certain makes of belt, usually those made by Dayco.

So, I had the dealer look at it while they were replacing my sub woofer - turns out the belt is normal.

Yes, congratulations on a correct diagnosis - it was nice to have confirmation from the dealer though.
