Private Registration

I've just bought a private reg (after years of slagging them & their owners off) for my yet to be delivered A4, nothing flashy just the (soon to be) current format with my initials incorporated in it
##60MCG.

My question is simple, do I let Audi register the car with a random number then swap to this private one meaning I have a plate to put on the car at time of resale and keeping mine? If so how long does this take and what is required?

or

If I/Audi first register with my private plate how do I keep the private number at resale?

let audi do it for you when u sell car transfer to new one very easy to do
