fans start running when car is started

fans start running when car is started,then stay running until i switch car off........any ideas?

car is a 56 plate golf tdi sport 1.9

Also should there be a fuse in engine bay (fuse F18) as there isnt one,but there is in my 56 a3(just curious)

This is a common Golf 5 platform problem and you should start with a full fault code scan of the cars systems. A common reason is failure of the air con pressure switch. I will look up the fuse, what is your engine code?

As far as I can tell, fuse SB18 (in the engine bay upper fuse box) is only used on special equipment vehicles such as German police, driving schools and for the RCD500 sound system.

Did a full scan with vag............no faults.

Interesting, I am still finding new reasons for Golf 5 platforms to run the fan, it seems as if the wind blows the wrong way it comes on. Does the A/C work?

aircon ......i think it does work,but il try it 2 morrow just to be 100%

It may come up on the A/C system code read but not always. The G65 sensor is on the condenser pipe down at the right front.
