Evening All,
My 98 reg, 70k beauty has recently started to do something rather odd. And it only started to do it after I'd topped up the oil for the very first time, though I doubt there's any connection.
On Friday, I drove 240 miles in 4 hours and after about 150 of those, the temperature gauge would slip from 90 to 80 - no apparent reason, no weird smells, smoking, steaming, anything at all. Then, as soon as it hit 80, it would make its way back up to 90. It did this almost constantly, then it stopped and remained perfectly aligned at 90 for about an hour. Driving back today - another 240 miles - it went for about 90 minutes without it moving one bit, before starting it again. But it all seems random.
When I got home, I lifted the bonnet, checked the coolant (inbetween min and max), there are no awful smells which would indicate anything - I'm simply at a loss to know what it's doing.
It drives beautifully, fuel economy is always 650+ from a full tank, etcetcetc really <trails off....>
Any ideas of what this might be?
Thank you
Sarah
