hi,

I have a 2002 New Beetle which has developed a partial ground / earth short, draining the battery over time. There are No fault Codes present, but the symtoms are:

1. reverse light is constantly on. Replaced reverse light switch on side of tranny, to no avail.

2. When I turn on the rear defroster / defogger, the 7.5A comfort system fuse blows. Also the cruise control stops working as well as the outside air temp indicator stops working.

I am now guessing the 'Brown' ground wires for both above, have become either dislodged or Corroded over time.

I am not sure where to start looking, but any pointers would be appreciated, as the wiring looms can be a bit of a nightmare to follow..

many thanks

alot of things are linked to others
I remember on my MK4 Golf my central locking stopped working
It was duw to a fuse blowing for the interior light!

Once replaced central locking and interior light worked

Have you checked the wire for the outside temp sensor?
