Hi there

My golf 1.6 just failed its mot on emissions its a 1999 with 120,000 miles

*Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast iddle excessive

*Exhaust emissions hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle excessive

*Exhaust emissions lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified.

Any ideas guys and girls?

I am currently being told i might need a new throttle housing costing me 360 squid of money i dont have.

Has anyone had any similar issues to this?

Any help would be greatly appeciated. If you have an idea feel free to call me if you dont mind on 07969 968 357. As my car is at the garage as we speak.

Cheers in advance i dont wanna have to take my baby of the road =[

Mine had a similar fail at last MOT - garage said an £80 Lambda sensor - didn't work - turned out it was completely buggered and a new engine was cheaper than stripping the whole thing down and a rebuild - £1600 all in.

Sorry if that depresses you, it depresses me more... A seemingly fine car that only failed on bloody emissions (which isn't a serious safety issue is it?) and it cost 1600 quid...

OH **** MY LIFE! pardon my french... ******** that sounds like fun...

The throttle body / ECU has been tested and has failed so it is currently being restored. and that should help or so i am told. At a cost of 350 quid but i really hope it is that. As the car in its self is only just worth 1900...

Thanks for your reply i will post up when i get it back fingers crossed.

Cheers
James
